【英语习语】 the ball's in your court

意思是:“现在球在你那边的场地上了”,也就是我已经把球打过了网,到了你的场地,现在
轮到你打了。
所以这个习语的基本意思是“该你采取行动了”,“该你决定了”,即 it's your turn to
make a move, make a decision or take action。 当然,这个习语可以应用于许多场合,引申
出不同的意思。
例如,你的老板把一件重要任何交给你,并为你作了必要的安排。老板拍拍你的肩膀对你
说:Now the ball is in your court. I believe you can give me an excellent answer. 这句话的意
思是:现在就看你的了。我相信你会完成得很出色的。
你接受了任务,很高兴,对完成这项任务也很有信心,于是你就回答老板说:You’ve
assigned the job to me, so the ball’s in my court now. 这句话的意思是:你已经把任务交给我了,
下一步就看我的了。这在场合the ball is in someone’scourt的意思是 it is somebody's
responsibility to take action next。
