A Special Friend

You came into my life one day unsuspectingly. You became a sister, a friend—someone special to me.  There have been so many times we’ve spoken, so many times we laughed together. I counted on seeing you every morning. You brightened my day and I hope I brightened yours, too. The days that went by without seeing you were lonely and filled with gloom.

You were my elder sister, you were my friend. You were my supporter, my reader. You were everything I could count on. I shared my feelings and my secrets. I shared my successes and failures. I shared my past and present. I shared it all with you. There were few things I didn’t share with the best friend you had become to me.

You were there and then you were gone.  Now I watch life passing by without you and wonder where you are.  Have you really left me forever or is there still hope? I try to clutch at every memory of ours. I try to hold on to all the times we had together. Life goes on, I know, but I don’t want to let go. I want to live with this hope that one day you will be back again. I want to live in this dream, this fantasy, that I will see you again.
