Hi every one, my name is Kwong, and you’ve probably seen me aroung District 89 for a very long time. People often asked me what would be the best tips for becoming a better speaker. I’ve got three for you today- three very simple techniques or ideas that you can think about and then put them into practice to help you become a better speaker.

Now the first one is being evaluator. If you want to become a better speaker, you first have to become a better evaluator. And that just means evaluating anything you can. Every time you sit in a meeting, evaluate every single speaker, evaluate all the different roles, evaluate all the table speakers, evaluate the meeting. You’re literally being the general evaluator every time you step into a club. That could help you work out what works and what doesn’t, and that gives you the power to become a better evaluator to evaluator yourself as a speaker.

The second tip - that is polishing. A lot of us or a lot of new speakers, what they do is they write a speech. They deliver it, and then they give evaluations, and then let it go. Now you can only get so much better by doing that way. What you really need to do is give your speech, deliver it, get feedback, polish to a new version, deliver it again, get more feedback, polish it again, get more feedback, and keep polishing, and keep moving that speech upwards.Now the best way to do is through a speech contest,and that really helps that process. If you can’t do that through a speech contest, what you do need to do is to work out a way you can polish -maybe deliver it in different clubs, or be brave enough to do it in the same club a few times over a year.
第二个建议是：修改。我们当中的很多人，或很多的演讲新人，他们做的就是写稿、演讲、接受评估然后就当完成任务了。现在你可以通过另一种方式来做得更好。你真正要做的是做演讲，获得反馈，修改成新的版本，再演讲，得到更多的反馈，再修改，得到更多的反馈，然后继续修改，继续把演讲上升到更高的层次。做好的方法就是参加演讲比赛，这对践行上述过程真的很有帮助。如过你不能通过演讲比赛来实践，你要做的就是想出一个你能修改稿子的方法，或许你可以在不同的俱乐部做演讲，或者让自己足够勇敢，同一篇稿子在一年当中在同一个俱乐部讲好几遍。
And the last point is really being specific on the area you want to develop. When we grow to a speaker, when we practice speaking, we always said we want to be a better speaker, we want to be a better communicator, but we always try to do lots of different things. My suggestion is focus on specific area. So if you want to be more humorous, then work on being more humorous for the next three or four speeches. If you want to be more story teller, work on being story teller for the next three or four speeches. If you want to be somebody more inspiratinal, then works on more inspirational speeches. So it is worth your time is working out what area you want to develop, and focusing on it, practicing that topic speech until you get to professional level, and then moving on to the next area you want to focus on.
最后一点是：专注于某个特定的你想提升的领域上面。当我们是演讲者的时候，当我们在联系演讲的时候，我们总是说，我们想成为更好的演讲者，我们想成为更好的沟通员，但我们总是尝试做很多不同的事情。我的建议是专注于特定的领域。如果你想变得更幽默，在接下来的三到四个演讲就专注于让演讲更幽默；如果你想让自己更擅长讲故事，在接下来的三到四个演讲就专注于如何把故事讲得更好；如果你想成为更会激励他人的人，那就做更多激励性演讲。你值得花时间去思考你想提升的领域，然后专注那个领域，练习相关话题演讲直到达到专业水平，之后你就可以转移到下一个你想专注的领域。
