PM Modi’s ruling coalition would win 286 seats in the 543-member Lok Sabha if elections are held now. The exit of Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) may cost the ruling alliance some 21 seats from an earlier projection of 307 seats, the survey conducted by India Today magazine in association with polling agency C-Voter found.

Inflationary pressure has not eased yet but should do as prices of crude oil and food items like edible oil fall, said the source, who did not want to be named.
India's retail inflation likely eased in July to 6.78% year-on-year, helped by a fall in prices of food and fuel, according to a Reuters poll of economists.

MUMBAI：Indian metals conglomerate Vedanta is close to selecting a site for a mammoth $20 billion tech hub to churn out microchips, displays and other products, sources told Nikkei Asia, teaming up with Foxconn as New Delhi looks to slash supply disruptions from overseas.
Officials from Vedanta, which is increasingly diversifying beyond its core commodity operations, have been visiting a 400-acre (160-hectare) location in Pune in the western state of Maharashtra that is a leading candidate to host the hub, said two people with direct knowledge of the matter.
