NEW DELHI: India's imports from Russia has jumped about five times to $37.31 billion during April-January this fiscal on account of increasing inbound shipments of crude oil from that country, according to the commerce ministry data.
In 2021-22, Russia was India's 18th largest import partner, accounting for $9.86 billion of imports.
Russia has become India's fourth largest import source during the 10-month period of the current fiscal. TOI

NEW DELHI: India's retail inflation based on consumer price index (CPI) jumped to a 3-month high of 6.52% in January, making it necessary for the government to step and tame the rise.
According to a report by Reuters, Centre may consider reducing taxes on some items such as maize and fuel in response to the central bank's recommendations to help rein in the soaring inflation.
However, a final call on this may be taken only after the CPI numbers for February are released, the report said quoting sources. TOI

MUMBAI, Feb 15 (Reuters) - Soymeal exports from India are increasing sharply as drought has hit output from top exporter Argentina, with 500,000 tonnes likely to be shipped from the South Asian country in February and March combined, three exporters said.
The drop in Argentina's output has driven up the South American producer's prices, making Indian soymeal more competitive.
India's exports in the first four months of the 2022/23 marketing year, which began on Oct. 1, surged 65% to 631,000 tonnes, nearly matching the 644,000 tonnes exported in the whole of the previous year, according to trade body the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA). Reuters
