很多男生在交了女朋友之后常常会表示困惑，他们觉得女孩子真的是谜一样的生物，他们分不清女生各种各样的口红色号，也常常不懂自己的女朋友为什么突然生气了。

所以，他们可能会和自己的朋友这样抱怨：“昨天聊得好好的，今天就不理人了，I can’t figure her out”。我们都知道figure out 有解决、算出的意思，那这个男生是想要表达什么呢？要解决掉自己的女朋友吗？

当然不是，没有那么恐怖。那这句话是什么意思呢，下面我们一起学习 figure someone out 的用法。

Figure someone out：

try to understand someone, generally it’s their perspective on something. Reach an understanding of a person's actions, motives, or personality.

意思是尝试着理解某人，通常是试图理解他们对某事的看法，或者行为动机。

我们除了可以说figure someone out，还可以说figure something out or figure out something

1. to understand or solve something: 理解或解决某事

Figure out 后面可以直接加疑问词how，why，what 等等

figure out how/why/what, etc.

I couldn't figure out what he was hinting at．

我不理解他的用意何在。

If they know the cause of the problem, they might be able to figure out how to prevent it from happening again.
