托福的有效期是两年，这个一般的人都很清楚。但是SAT和ACT作为最重要的标化考试，到底有效期是多少时间？有家长会问。一般的回答是5年！到底对吗？

首先，我在找到网上的专业解答，说这项考试是没有有效期的。想想也是，你考出来了，说明能力达到了干嘛要有有效期？具体英文看下面，明确说5年的有效期是GRE，GMAT和LSAT还有MCAT。

There is some misinformation regarding validity of test scores. SAT, SAT subject tests, ACT, PSAT, PLAN, AP, and IB scores never expire. Educational institutions reserve the right to establish policies regarding the length of time to allow the use of test scores for admission or scholarship purposes, usually two or three years, but this depends on the college or university. The scores themselves are still valid (by the testing agency) and exist forever. Testing agencies develop concordance tables to allow comparison between old scores and new scores after major overhauls or recentering. On the other hand, graduate and professional standardized tests like the GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT, are reportable for five years and usually archived for up to ten years. Then the scores are erased from the testing agency archives and cease to exist.

我查阅了College board的官网，CB的官网根本没有明确表示截止有效期， CB表示你离开高中一年并且一年内没有考试的话，成绩会被存档。在官网上有一句说成绩超过5年会被说明有效性不高，所以，这个5年有效期可能这么来的。

Older Score Reports

Some older score reports include special notes or indicators:

Scores for tests taken on or after April 1, 1995, are reported on a recentered scale. An "R" next to your scores indicates this.

There is a score reporting fee for each report, plus an additional retrieval fee for processing archived scores.

到这里，你大概清楚一直有效和5年有校期的由来了吧。ACT其实类似的，也是没有有效期的。你看，这是ACT网站上明确描述的2017年9月1日以前的考试已经被存档，递送成绩需要38美金，而这个时间段以后的成绩，没有被存档，送分只需要13美金。
