Wohnhaus Kirschgarten is a minimalist residence located in Binningen, Switzerland, designed by Buchner Bründler Architekten. The residential district is characterized by a mixed form of multi-family and single-family homes, which are surrounded by dense greenery.

The home is situated on a hillside plot and designed with privacy and openness in mind. A garden wall of black painted concrete spans across, behind it a staggering of roof layers. The house remains hidden, with visibility in a round opening in the wall. Behind this enclosure, the house moves away from the wall with a surrounding garden. It is designed as an all-transparent building, which is played by the course of sunlight. Behind the enclosure, the interior and exterior spaces are structurally, constructively, and spatially thought together. Between the garden wall and the inner wall, a three-meter high living space is spanned, which is zoned by furniture elements and a skylight. Here, brass and oiled oak complement the raw concrete.

The living room is intimate, as it has an intensive version. A large flat roof spans him and reaches out over him on the sides. A rib construction consisting of five side rails and a cross member divides and stabilizes the roof.

Wall aprons, which hang from the supporting structure at the ends of the house, limit and extend the living space: the sunlight breaks through them, as an indirect light it is directed into the interior. Interior and exterior space are interlocked by the roof with its prestressed concrete structure, because the roof becomes a pergola in the courtyard. In contrast to the intimacy of the living space, the individual rooms arranged peripherally behind the inner wall produce external references to the city and the surrounding vegetation.

In 1997 Andreas Bründler founded together with Daniel Buchner the office Buchner Bründler Architekten in Basel. In 2003 he was admitted to the Confederation of Swiss Architects. In 2008 and 2009 he was a visiting professor at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). At the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), there was a guest lecturer in design from 2010 to 2012.

He was born in 1967 in Sins, Switzerland.An apprenticeship as a structural engineer from 1984 to 1987 in Zug is followed by an architectural study at the engineering school of both Basel from 1989 to 1993. Afterwards he worked from 1994 to 1997 in the architecture office Miller & Maranta in Basel.
