英语语法：形容词短语a majority of、a piece of等

形容词短语是指由几个形容词或形容词及其修饰语构的短语，通常在句中作定语或者表语。

21. a series of一系列，一连串

用法：a series of后接复数名词和不可数名词，谓语动词的单复数决于主语的形式。

例句：In 1924 America’s National Research Council sent two engineers to supervise a series of industrial experiments at a large telephone-parts factory called the Hawthorne Plant near Chicago.  (2011年考研)

1924年，美国国家研究委员会派出两名工程师监督叫做霍桑工厂的电话配件厂的一系列工业试验，这个工厂就在芝加哥附近。

语法点：该例句用的是过去一般时态，过去一般时用来表示过去发生的动作或存在的状态，句子中的谓语动词要用过去式。句中的谓语动词sent是send的现在式。

22. a set of一套

用法：a set of和sets of同义，一般修饰名词，表示数量；都接名词的复数形式，谓语动词用复数形式。

例句：In the so-called “effective” schools, children are taught self-control under a set of strict rules.(2015年12月四级)

在所谓的“效率”学校里，孩子们在一套严格的规则下被教导自控。

I cannot correlate the two sets of figures.

我看不出这两组数字有什么联系。

23. a variety of各种各样的

用法：a variety of强调事物的多样性，可修饰可数名词，也可修饰不可数名词，相当于varieties of等词组。

例句：What a variety of salads you’ve got on your menu! (2015年12月六级)

你们菜单上的色拉品种真多啊！

语法点：

该句是由what引导的感叹句，what意味“多么”，所强调的名词通常是表语、宾语。其结构是“What+(形容词)+可数名词复数或不可数名词+主语+谓语”。

24. all kinds of各种各样的

用法：all kinds of     是固定词组，后接可数名词或不可数名词。

例句：All kinds of myths surround the lives of well-known people. （2015年6月四级）

各种各样的流言围绕着名人的生活。
