英语语法：短语be equivalent to, be equipped with的用法

形容词短语是指由几个形容词或形容词及其修饰语构的短语，通常在句中作定语或者表语。

57. be equivalent to等同于

用法：be equivalent to后跟名词或者动名词词组，其同义词级还有be equal to。

例句：In a society that so persistently celebrates procreation, isit any wonder that admitting you regret having children is equivalent to admitting you supportkitten-killing? (2011考研)

在一个不断庆祝生育的社会里，承认后悔生孩子相当于承认支持杀小猫，这很奇怪吗?

词汇：procreation/ˌprəʊkrɪˈeɪʃən/ n.生育

语法点：该例句含有一个定语从句，两个宾语从句。

结构分析：该例句用的是现在一般时态，In a society是介词词组作状语， that引导定语从句，在从句中作主语， so persistently celebrates是谓语动词（现在式）， procreation是宾语, is是系动词， it是形式主语，any wonder是表语， that引导的部分是真正主语，admitting you regret having children是-ing式词组作主语(you regret having children是一个宾语从句)， is equivalent to是谓语，后跟名词或者动名词词组，admitting you support kitten-killing是-ing式词组作宾语，其中you是主语，support是谓语动词，kitten-killing是宾语(you support kitten-killing是一个宾语从句)?

58. be equipped with装有……设备

用法：be equipped with的主语可以是人,也可以是物。

例句：The staff are equipped with iPads to take your payment while you relax on a sofa. (2015年12月四级)

员工都配有平板电脑,你在沙发上休息的时候就可以买单。

59. be essential to对……必不可少的

用法：be essential to后跟名词或者名词词组，其同义词组还有be indispensable for。

例句：Study skills are essential to knowledge acquisition. (2014年6月六级)

学习对获取知识至关重要。

60. be excited about对……感到兴奋

用法：be excited about后跟名词或者动名词,需要注意其与be excited to的区别,后者也表示“对……感到兴奋”。

例句：Their children are veryexcited about the Disneyland.

他们的孩子对迪士尼乐园感到很兴奋。
