53. in a dilemma进退两难

用法：in a dilemma常与caught连用，表示“陷入进退两难的境地”。

例句：He was caught in a dilemma by a hesitantattitude.

犹豫不决的态度使他陷入了进退两难的境地。

语法结构分析：He是主语， was caught是谓语（被动时态，一般过去时）， in a dilemma是状语， by a hesitant attitude是状语。

54. in a row一个接一个，接连

用法：in a row也可以表示“成一行”，在句中经常用作方式状语。

例句：A flock of ducks jumped into the lake in a row.

一群鸭子接连跳进了湖里。

55. in a sense从某种意义上说

用法：in a sense在句中经常用作插入语，用逗号与后面内容隔开。

例句：In a sense, a woman’s ability to work isno worse than a man’s.

从某种意义上说，女人的工作能力并不比男人差。

语法点：woman’s表示“女人的”，名词所有格是在名词后直接加上’s，如果该句词是以s结尾，可以直接加’。

56. in a way在某种程度上

用法：in a way在句中作插入语时，常放在句中，有时也放在句首。

例句：In a way, it was his fault for giving way to his wife every time.

在某种程度上，每次都对妻子让步是他的错。
