英语语法：短语show off，shrug off的用法​

动词短语是由动词和介词、副词、名词等构成的，在句中作谓语。

305.show off夸耀

用法：show off常用在show off sth to sb结构中，表示“向某人炫耀某物”。

例句：The woman who always shows off her work to others is not popular. 

那个总是向别人炫耀工作的女人很不受欢迎。

结构分析：The woman是主语，who引导定语从句（在从句中作主语）， always shows off是谓语，her work是宾语，to others是状语，is是系动词， not popular是表语。

306.shrug off耸肩，不屑理睬

用法：shrug off也可以表示“轻视，对……不屑一顾”，shrug off的主语一般是人。

例句：Hearing his answer, Lisa shrugged off in distain. 

听到他的回答，莉萨不屑地耸了耸肩。

307.shut down关闭

用法：shut down的主语可以是人，也可以是机构、场所等名词。

例句：The police shut down some of the bars with drug trafficking. 

警察关闭了几家偷偷贩毒的酒吧。

308.shut up住口

用法：shut up一般不接宾语，经常用在祈使句中。

例句：The doctor made the shouting man shut up. 

医生让那个大吵大闹的男子闭嘴。
