Wienermobile（July 18：美国历史上的今天）

内容提要：1936年，以（Oscar Mayer）为商标的Wienermobile因其巨型热狗的外形而风靡一时。

Oscar Mayer started his meatpacking company in Chicago in the 1880s. It was a successful family business. In 1929, they were the first to package their wieners法兰克福香肠，维也纳香肠.To make them stand out突出 in stores, they put a bright yellow band around the package with their name on It. 

Karl Mayer, Oscar's nephew, came up with another idea to promote推广 Oscar Mayer hot dogs. On July 18, 1936, the first wienermobile rolled onto the streets of Chicago. It was a 13-foot hot dog on wheels. It carried the world's smallest chef, Little Oscar. He gave out free hot dogs. 

In 1953, five new, 22-foot-long Wienermobiles hit the streets across America. They were the first to have a sound system. 

Then came the bubble-nosed透明圆罩车头的 model. Buns小圆面包 were added to the design. Little Oscar gave Wiener whistles to children at every stop. By then, every kid could sing the Oscar Mayer Wiener jingle用于广告的短歌. 

In 1988, six 23-foot-long Wienermobiles were made. Twelve pilots called Hotdoggers drive them. Hotdoggers must go to Hot Dog High to learn how to drive the big vehicle车辆. These models had microwave ovens, refrigerators冰箱, phones, and stereo systems that played 21 versions of the wiener jingle.

The latest model is 27 feet long and 11 feet high. Added features include a big-screen TV, video equipment, and a global positioning system. It weighs as much as 140,000 hot dogs! 

The Wienermobile travels 50,000 miles a year throughout the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Spain. Soon, they will be in Germany, Mexico, and Japan.
