通过英语学习中国的传统文化是一个不错的主意，当然形式不能单调僵化，要让孩子参与其中，游戏就是这样一种好方法。
我们先从北方人过年包饺子（ Make dumplings or Jiaozi） 说起。
家长要一边做动作一边说英语。
包饺子的步骤：
Step 1: Make the dough by mixing water into the flour. 先用水和面
Step 2: Mince the meat, mushrooms and shrimps till they are mixed in a paste. Add some spice such as ginger and onion and stir them evenly. 剁肉馅，将蘑菇和虾米搅拌成糊状，放入调味品如姜、葱，并把馅搅匀。
Step 3: Make the wrappings. Roll the dough with a round stick into small round wrappings, each two inches in diameter. 做饺皮。用擀面杖擀出一张张直径为两英寸的圆饺皮。
Step 4: Put the fillings in the middle of a wrapping. Then press the wrapping tight and a jiaozi is ready.把馅放入饺皮中，捏紧饺皮，一个饺子就做成了。
大点的孩子一般都会自己包饺子，父母可以和孩子比赛，看谁包的饺子好看。当包饺子变成了一种游戏比赛时，孩子的参与热情就会立马提高，并且还学习了一些相关的英语，一举两得。
饺子包好了，下一步就是煮饺子了，下面我来介绍煮饺子（Boil dumplings）的步骤。
Step 1: Put a pot of water on the stove. 在锅中放上水，搁在炉灶上烧。
Step 2: Put the Jiaozi one by one into the water and cover the pot when the water is boiling. 水开时，一个一个地把饺子放入开水中，盖上锅盖。
Step 3: Add more cold water when steam comes out. 水冒气时，加些冷水。
Step 4: Add cold water a second time when it boils again. 水开时，再加些冷水。
Step 5: When you see the Jiaozi floating in boiling water, you can put them in bowls or plates. 当饺子漂浮上来时，盛入碗中。
然后一家人就可以一边吃饺子，一边看春晚了。这是全中国人春节最温馨的画面。
将英语学习融入生活，孩子没有压力，比较容易接受，不会觉得是在学习，而是看作一种游戏。
在看春晚的过程中，也可以用英语简介春节和春晚。
