特别建议家长朋友能大概地读一读《英语的拉丁语和希腊语根源》。

如果您有初中以上的学历，借助词典依然读不懂这样的英语原版书，完全可以说您的英语学习方法有严重的问题。千万不要再用同样的方法耽误孩子了。

这里的absorb，vocabulary和language都源自拉丁语，有些是经由法语进入英语。

源自中古法语absorber，源自古法语assorbir，源自拉丁语absorbeō(“swallow up”)，由ab-(“from”) +sorbeō (“suck in, swallow”)构成。

【法语】absorber [sapsɔrbe]vt. 吸收,消耗,吸引住

拆解：ab+sorb+er。

-er是法语动词不定式后缀之一，英语是直接去掉这样的后缀，就成了absorb。

【德语】absorbieren（国际音标/ˌabzɔʁˈbiːrən/）  vt. 吸收。

拆解：ab+sorb+ieren。

德语外来动词通常用-ieren。其中的-ier源自古法语，-en是德语、荷兰语、中古英语动词不定式后缀。
