Lesson 39 Don’t drop it!

What are you going to do with that vase, Penny?

I’m going to put it on this table, Sam.

Don’t do that.

Give it to me.

What are you going to do with it?

I’m going to put it here, in front of the window.

Be careful.

Don’t drop it!

Don’t put it there, Sam.

Put it here, on this shelf.

There we are!

It’s a lovely vase.

Those flowers are lovely, too.

二、每课一句

本课仍然继续学习的是be going to do的用法。

注意上面这句话中的here与后面的in front of the window的关系，它们是同位关系，即in front of the window其实是用作here的同位语，补充说明here指代的具体位置。

本课中还有一处也是这样的用法，即：

Put it here, on this shelf.

这句话中的on this shelf就用作here的同位语。

注意同位语如果是单个的词语，一般可以直接跟在其所修饰的成分后面；但如果是短语，则大多会用逗号隔开。如：

Yesterday I received a letter from my brother Tim.

这句话中的Tim就用作my brother的同位语，用来补充说明其名字叫什么。

该句型常用来表达两个意思。

一是表示“我们到了”，如：

Victoria Street, that's the name of the street. There we are, look.
维多利亚大街，那条街就叫这个名字。看，我说的没错吧！

二是表示“就放在那儿”，如本文中的这句：

There we are! It's a lovely vase.
萨姆：放好了！这是只漂亮的花瓶。

此外，也有“Here we are”的表达，其用法与“There we are”差不多，只是“Here we are”所指的地点是靠说话者近的地方，而“There we are”表达的是离说话者有一定距离的地方。
