Lesson 103 The French test
How was the exam, Richard?
Not too bad. I think I passed in English and Mathematics. The questions were very easy. How about you, Gary?
The English and Maths papers weren’t easy enough for me. I hope I haven’t failed.
I think I failed the French paper. I could answer sixteen of the questions. They were very easy. But I couldn't answer the rest. They were too difficult for me.
French tests are awful, aren’t they?
I hate them. I’m sure I’ve got a low mark.
Oh, cheer up! Perhaps we didn’t do too badly. The guy next to me wrote his name at the top of the paper.
Yes?
Then he sat there and looked at it for three hours! He didn’t write a word!

本课一方面侧重学习的是副词too、very和enough的用法，但另一方面其实侧重学习的是too和enough与动词不定式的连用。
（一）副词very、too与enough
1、very与too
都表示“很；非常”，而且都用来修饰形容词或副词，但very既可以用来修饰消极词汇，也可以用来修饰积极词汇。如：
very well
very bad
而too一般只能用来修饰消极词汇。如：
too fat
too slowly
2、enough
enough可以用作形容词，表示“足够的”，它主要用来修饰名词，放在名词前面。如：
enough books
enough water
enough也可以用作副词，表示“足够”，它主要用来修饰形容词或副词，放在形容词或副词的后面。如：
good enough
quickly enough
（二）too...to...
这个句型表示“太...而不能...”，注意：前面的too为副词，后接形容词或副词；后面的to为动词不定式，后接动词原形。有的时候在to do前面可以插入for sb.，此时句子的主语往往是事物。如：
He is too young to join the army.
他太小了，还不能参军。
The quesiton is too difficult for him to slove.
这个问题太难了，他无法解答。
（三）enough to do
此时无论enough是形容词或副词，都可以跟to do结构搭配使用。to do结构前有时可以插入for sb.，此时的主语往往是事物。如：
She has enough money to buy herself a new dress.
她有足够的钱，可以为自己买一条新裙子。
They are old enough to join the club.
他们年龄够大了，可以加入这个俱乐部。
The box is light enough for the little girl to move.
盒子足够轻了，小女孩可以搬动它。
注意本课虽然侧重点是在too、very和enough的学习上，但课文中也出现了多处在第99-102课里所学的重点内容——宾语从句的用法，所以可以借此机会予以复习。
