Throughout season two which was streamed on popular Chinese entertainment platform Iqiyi, Liu, from Guizhou province in the nation's southwest wooed audiences with her tomboyish fashion senses and her polished dance and vocal skills.

Wu says it helps that Liu excelled in multiple areas including voice, movement ,ability to rap and stage presence.

Liu is no stranger to talent shows, her first foray was in Hunan TV's Up Juniors in 2012.
刘雨昕已经不是第一次参加选秀了，2012年时，她曾参加了湖南卫视举办的向上吧少年。
The following year she joined a talent show for dancers organized by Dragon Television .
第二年，他又参加了东方卫视举办的一个舞者选秀。
In 2016,she won a place in the seven member girl group Lady Bees, formed from a pop idol show on regional channel Zhejiang .

Although Lady Bees released an album in 2017 and won several awards at music events in mainland, Liu failed to take the next step.

With both parents in the music industry , Liu started to learn dancing at the age of 10. She moved to Beijing at the age of 12 to learn street dance.

But it was on Youth With You 2 that she earned her first real break.
一直到青春有你2，她才等来自己真正的突破。
Liu said she had not been lucky in the past.
刘雨昕说之前运气不太好。
When she joined a street dance competition, the genre was not popular in China; and when she took part in girl band selection shows, female pop outfits were not wide sought after.
她之前参加街舞比赛的时候，街舞在中国还不是很流行，而后来跟她参加女团选秀的时候，女团也还没有开始火爆。
She said her non-conformist looks did not help either, and some blamed her image for Lady Bees' failure.
她说，她与众不同的外形一直备受争议，还有人怪她，说蜜蜂少女队的解散是因为她的外形。
“I just want to be myself，no matter how long the road to achieving my dreams is, I will forge a head like a warrior," she said.
“我只想做我自己，无论追梦之路有多难，我都会像勇士一样前行。”她说。
