“一鹭莲科”即“一路连科”的谐音，在科举时代，人们参加考试，都希望金榜题名，屡考屡中，于是便以“一路连科”预示金榜题名、一路顺风、吉祥如意。
鹭是水鸟名，我们俗称鹭鸶，形体高大而瘦削、脚高颈长，喙直而尖，羽白；鹭顶、胸、肩及背上均生有长毛如丝，十分美丽，常栖于水边，与荷莲为伴。
莲，“出淤泥而不染，濯清涟而不妖，中通外直，不蔓不枝，香远益清，亭亭净植，可远观而不可亵玩焉。”表示坚贞纯洁。“身处污泥未染泥，白茎埋地没人知。生机红绿清澄里，不待风来香满池。”在诗人笔下，荷花不仅表示坚贞、纯洁，还是谦逊、恬谧，自守晏清形象的象征。
故，我们在进行木雕创作过程中，进行随型雕刻时，以鹭和莲进行结合，将鹭的灵动与莲的清美尽力表达出来。

It means firm and pure. "No one knows where the white stems are buried when they are not contaminated with mud. Life in the red and green clear, do not wait for the wind to fill the pool In the poet's works, lotus is not only a symbol of faithfulness and purity, but also a symbol of modesty, tranquility and self-defense of Yan Qing.
Therefore, in the process of creation, we combine heron and lotus to carve according to the type, and express the spirit of heron and the beauty of lotus
