The city of Hangzhou is wellknown to the world for the beauty of West Lake and the landscape around it. Thesaying, “Suzhou and Hangzhou are paradise on the earth”, is a fair reflectionof people’s admiration for this lovely city.
Su Dongpo, a literary masterin Song Dynasty, expressed his love for West Lake and Hangzhou in such words,“Thirty-six lakes thought there are on the earth, the most famous one is inHangzhou”. West Lake and Lac de Geneve (LakeGeneva) in Geneva of Switzerland are compared to two bright pearls in theworld, one shining in the east and the other in the west.
