单词dog大家最初记住的含义是“狗”，但除了名词，dog还可以作为动词，表示“（伤病、问题等）困扰、折磨、纠缠”，在一些新闻报道、外刊资料中经常用到。我们来看一个例句：

She had been dogged by bad health all his life.

她一生多病，备受折磨。

作为动词dog的过去分词形式，dogged还有另外一层含义：

If you describe someone's actions as dogged, you mean that they are determined to continue with something even if it becomes difficult or dangerous.

adj. 顽强的，坚持不懈的

我们来看一个例句：

Success required dogged determination.

成功要有坚定的决心。
