Everyone also has the "six doors", which are very powerful, and our external behavior and thoughts are manifested from this.

Let's take a look at the 45th little story "The Legend of Nu Shou Men" in the "Hundred Yu Classic"! 《奴守门喻》 有一位主人，要出趟远门，于是就嘱咐家中的奴仆：“你要守好家中门，同时要牵好驴索，不要让院里的驴子跑了。” "A master was about to leave on a long journey, so he instructed his servants in the house, 'You must guard the door of the house well, and at the same time, you must lead the donkey rope well, and don't let the donkeys in the yard run away.'"
主人说罢就离开了，过了几天，碰到邻村演戏，弹唱的非常的好。那仆人听了后，就心神荡漾的了，特别想去看看，但有又顾虑到主人让看好大门的嘱咐，于是他想到了一个绝妙的方法。 After saying that, the host left. After a few days, he encountered a neighboring village performing and playing and singing very well. "After hearing this, the servant's heart was filled with excitement, and he particularly wanted to go and have a look... 他把家中的大门给拆掉，放在了驴背上，牵着驴一起去看演出了。等仆人走了后，家中的财物就被小偷洗劫一空。等主人回来后，看到家里的财物都没了，很奇怪就问仆人：“这究竟是怎么一回事啊？” He tore down the front door of his house, put it on the donkey's back, and led the donkey to the show. After the servant left, the thieves ransacked all the property in the house. After the master returned, he saw that all the property in the house was gone. He was very strange and asked the servant, "What the hell is this?"
仆人回答道：“主人您走之前，教我守好的是大门、驴索和驴这三样东西；现在这三样东西都在，没有丢失啊！而别的一切，我并不知道。” "The servant replied, 'Before you left, master, you taught me to guard the gate, the donkey rope, and the donkey. Now these three things are all here and haven't been lost! And I don't know anything else.'" 主人听到仆人这个回答后大骂道：“你这个白痴，我叫你守好门，是为了防止屋门的财物丢失，现在财物已经丢失，留着一扇门又有什么作用呢？” After hearing the servant's answer, the master cursed loudly, "You idiot, I asked you to guard the door to prevent the property at the door from being lost. Now that the property has been lost, what's the use of keeping a door?"
这个故事比喻：圣人教导我们，修行应该常常摄心，守好“眼耳鼻舌身意”这六根之门，不要被“色声香味触法”这六贼所入侵。我们贪迷于六尘之中，却不是六尘的虚妄，执着、迷恋，污染了六根造下了种种的恶业。 This story is a metaphor: The sages teach us that in practice, we should always take care of the heart, guard the six gates of "eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind", and not be invaded by the six thieves of "color, sound, aroma, and touch". We are obsessed with the Six Dust, but not the vanity of the Six Dust... 有些人不听教诲，而去探求名利。哪怕是在静坐之中，还念念贪恋攀援着名利食色，牢守着无明的驴子和贪爱的绳索，却洞开六根大门，结果被这六尘烦恼盗贼入侵，使得修行的功德财宝全都失散了。 Some people refuse to listen to instruction and seek fame and wealth. Even while sitting in silence, I still remember clinging to fame, wealth, food, lust, and clinging to the blind donkey and the rope of greed, but I opened six gates. As a result, I was invaded by these six dust troubles and thieves, causing all the merits and treasures of cultivation to be lost.
当我们明白了这个道理后，就要守好六根，不攀外缘，如是才能够老实的守心修心。After we understand this principle, we must guard the six roots well and not climb the outer edge, so that we can honestly guard our hearts and cultivate our hearts.
