有一个木匠做得一手好门。他费了好多时日给自己做了一扇门，他认为这门用料实在、做工精良，一定会经久耐用。
There is a carpenter who is skilled in making doors. He spent a lot of time making a door for himself, and he believed that the material used for this door was solid, the workmanship was excellent, and it would definitely be durable.
后来，门上的钉子锈了，掉下一块板，木匠找出一颗钉子补上，门又完好如初。后来又掉下二颗钉子，木匠就又换上一颗钉子。后来又有一块板坏了，木匠就又找出一块板换上。后来门插坏了，木匠就又换了一个门插……
Later, the nail on the door rusted and a board fell off. The carpenter found a nail to fix it, and the door was as good as before. Later, two more nails fell off, and the carpenter replaced them with another nail. Later, another board broke, and the carpenter found another board to replace it...
于是若干年后，这扇门虽破损过无数次，但经过木匠的精心修理，仍坚固耐用。本匠对此甚是自豪。
So several years later, although this door had been damaged countless times, it was still sturdy and durable after careful repair by a carpenter. I am very proud of this.
忽然有一天，邻居对他说：“你是木匠，你看看你家这门？”木匠仔细一看，才发觉邻居家的门一扇扇全都样式新颖、质地优良，而自己家的门却又老又破，满是补丁。于是木匠明白了，是自己的这门手艺阻碍了自家门的发展。
Suddenly one day, the neighbor said to him, "You're a carpenter, take a look at your door?" The carpenter looked carefully and realized that the neighbors' doors were all new in style and of good quality, while their own doors were old and torn, full of patches...
