Talking about reading, no one would like to miss the chance to mention a piece of incomparable works Of Reading by Bacon and its incomparable translation by Wang Zuoliang. Nowadays, reading books has ben considered as the best way to educate oneself, which is seemingly universally acknowledged, although fewer and fewer really pick up any book and move their sight from top to bottom as their sight is occupied by the screens of their smart telephones. So, many are worried that the world will be another one as so few people read the books that they regard as food for thought.
Actually, more and more people lose themselves in the screens, which are quite different from books. But it that worried me so much before has become something that I now consider to be the least important. Why? Because i've noticed something different. What is it? let's make no haste.
The first thing that I want to say is that many people are reading books in this world and they read books to deepen their thoughts and enrich their lives. They read world-famous works and even philosophical works to sharpen their minds and they have achieved their goals. The only thing that may be different is that they read in a different way. They read on electronic apps, a way rather different from the traditional way: read on pages.
however, it's not the point that i want to make in the short article. what i want to express is that reading and the way of reading is not decisive but it is thinking and the way to think that do matter! Confucious has ever remarked that reading without thinking is bewildering; thinking wihout reading is imperilling. The greatest teacher in ancient time in China revealed some truth. Oberseving the people who like reading books around you, you will find that the number of the books that one has read is so big but he is still a foolish man. The only explanation to it is that he read without thinking. He just keeps so much information from the books in his mind and consider the information as the truth other than the material for thinking and he never tries to reorganise the information to get clost to the truth. This way, he can only kneel down to the books and the authority. It is hard to expect to change himself by reading and he is still imprisoned in thought and not able to escape from the prison for the whole life. He thinks and acts in his fram that was formed by the set tunnel of information.
Personally, it's not the books that decide one's mindset but the way to think. If one is not willing to change his way to think, he can't change his mindset and life by reading even more books. That' s why the freedom to think and to thinkn in one's own way is so important for a society striving for innovation.
