前文英汉翻译练习之GEB一小节只写了 2 个句子，这篇继续剩下的几个句子。
句子都不难，但蛮多像 give，make，form，lead to 等小词，小短语，我总觉得比较头疼，怎么选个更通顺的好。感觉需要单列个纯词汇表了，类似《写作辞林》那种，罗列所有可能的，遇到吃不准的就在里面挑。当然了，如果大脑已经训练的足够好了，放脑子里就好，我还不行。
我发现有点喜欢上这种方式练习了，考虑把 GEB 的 overview 整个这样过一遍好了，神书太厚看不了，先了解个大概也不错嘛。当然，不翻译只浏览甚至只读中文版也可以啊，可我这不是在学翻译嘛。

Introduction: A Musico-Logical Offering. The book opens with the story of Bach's Musical Offering. Bach made an impromptu visit to King Frederick the Great of Prussia, and was requested to improvise upon a theme presented by the King. 「His improvisations formed the basis of that great work. The Musical Offering and its story form a theme upon which I "improvise" throughout the book, thus making a sort of "Metamusical Offering". Self-reference and the interplay between different levels in Bach are discussed: this leads to a discussion of parallel ideas in Escher's drawings and then Gödel’s Theorem. A brief presentation of the history of logic and paradoxes is given as background for Gödel’s Theorem. This leads to mechanical reasoning and computers, and the debate about whether Artificial Intelligence is possible. 这句话出现了两次 form，一次 make，都是主要的谓语动词，基本意思 形成，生成，制作，弄不好就很容易翻译腔。
一个个来吧
form the basis of，直译：形成了…的基础，感觉不好。只好想中文对应这个意思的还有什么词？
感觉都不好，基础这个词不想要，我选择了”开启了“。GEB 的译文用了第一个：他的即兴演出构成了这部伟大作品的基础。很想知道还有更好点的译法吗？
... A and A's story **form** a theme upon which: 这里的 theme 和前文的“a theme presented by the king”是同一个意思吗？应该不是，前文是指音乐上的特指，这里就是普通的 theme 主题。大意就是，A 及 A 的故事构成了一个主题，作者则在这个主题上即兴创作。这里的 form 同上，GEB 译文也用了”构成“。
thus making a sort of…: make 也是个头疼的词，
GEB 译文用了”形成了…”。我把“形”给省略了，用了“成了”。。。
is discussed 很简单，“讨论”没问题，但除了这个之外，还能想到哪些词？
This topic will be discussed at greater length in the next chapter. 这个题目将在下一章里详细论述。We need to discuss when we should go. 我们需要商量一下什么时候动身。所以这句话 this leads to a discussion of parallel ideas in Escher's drawings and then Gödel’s Theorem 可以说成“讨论了”， 也可以说成“详细论述了”, 前者更通俗些。
lead to 基本义”导致“ = result in, 但是不能直接用，想：
这里因为是从巴赫的作品 lead to 哥德尔的以及埃舍尔的，所以引出就可以了。
后文还有一处lead to: This leads to mechanical reasoning and computers，如果再用 引出 或显重复，一定要用的话我觉得可以加个又字，比如”这又引出了…”，与前文呼应下。GEB 译文用了“引到了”也不错。

give也是个常用词多义词又很普通没啥特色稍嫌土气的词。想到：
这里用“给出”或“提供”都可以。
Presentation, present 也是遇到我就头大的小词：跟报告相关的
尤其这里还跟 give 搭配了，有一部分意思重叠了，GEB 中文版直接就译成“提供”，好。
