本系列是翻译 GEB 部分文章（overview）部分，然后与 GEB 中文译本比较学习。主要是出于两个目的： 此前的章节参见： 先放原文： Chapter III: Figure and Ground. The distinction between figure and ground in art is compared to the distinction between theorems and nontheorems in formal systems. This Dialogue is central to the book, for it contains a set of paraphrases of Gödel’s self-referential construction and of his Incompleteness Theorem. One of the paraphrases of the Theorem says, "For each record player there is a record which it cannot play." The Dialogue's title is a cross between the word "acrostic" and the word "contrapunctus", a Latin word which Bach used to denote the many fugues and canons making up his Art of the Fugue. Some explicit references to the Art of the Fugue are made. The Dialogue itself conceals some acrostic tricks. The distinction between figure and ground in art is compared to the distinction between theorems and nontheorems in formal systems. 钱歌川先生《翻译的技巧》里面明确了二者的区别：同种类的东西相比用 compare with，不同种类的东西相比，则要用 compare to As you know,life is often compared to a voyage. life 与 voyage 完全不同种类，故用 compare to 方合， 再看下例 Famous as she is，she cannot be compared with him as a writer of tragedies. (她虽有名，但作为一个悲剧作者是不能和他相比的。）. 这是两个人物的比较，同类。 A book may be compared to your neighbor；if it be good ，it cannot last too long；if bad，you cannot get rid of it too early. 上面几个例子了，compare 是作为不及物动词，后面跟介词 with 或 to。 compare 还可以做及物动词，比如可以说 compare X with Y 与 compare X to Y，区别同上。 例句：（摘自陈用仪先生的书） The auditor compared this year's figures with last year's. 审计员将今年的数字同去年相比较。 The teacher compared a light bulb to the sun. 老师把电灯泡比作太阳。但是在多数人的实际语言中，这个区别已经不很严格。 compare 还可以做名词，比如 想到一个有名的文本比较工具 BeyondCompare， 出处原来如此。 第一段出现了三次 The distinction between X and Y，X 和 Y 之间的区别，還可以怎么说？ Contracrostipunctus 对位藏头诗 cross 也是个小词，基本义“从一边到另一边”，跨越的意思，但在这里肯定不能这么译了，结合对话的标题“Contracrostipunctus”，再看 cross 的两部分：acrostic, contrapunctus, 显然是两个词的拼接。GEB 中文译文“是…两个词的拼合”。 acrostic: A poem or series of lines in which certain letters, usually the first in each line, form a name, motto, or message when read in sequence.
离合诗，藏头诗：指一首诗或几行诗中的一些字母，通常是每一行的第一个字母，当按顺序读时可组成名字、格言或信息 rerences are made, reference 参考，引用，我就直译了“本节对《赋格的艺术》做了一些明显的引用”，但是感觉不好，可能译成“本节引用了《赋格的艺术》”好一些？GEB 中文译的是“中间有几处涉及了《赋格的艺术》”，这个很赞，因为它把“some”表现了出来，“中间有几处”，而我明显漏译了，即使没漏译，可能也只会干巴巴的译成“一些”。reference are made 译成“涉及了”，简单直接。 trick 也头疼，可以是骗人的花招，可以是巧妙的办法，技巧，诀窍等等，就是比较迷惑人呗，所以我译成了“藏头诗字谜”，GEB 中文译的是“藏头诗的小花招”，感觉很棒啊。 形式系统是逻辑数理学的概念，某度的解释： 形式系统（Formal System），包含字母、字的集合及由关系组成的有限集合。例如：集合论[1]、布林代数、欧几里得[2]平面几何及贝克式正规形式（Backus Normal Form）都是形式系统。[1] 常用的形式系统有：语言、数理规则和逻辑 简单的理解的话，我们的算数系统就是一个形式系统，我们用 1+1, 1-1等，这只是应用，背后对应的是一套算数系统，有一套算数语言（形式语言）来表达，比如 “数字 运算符 数字”，数学家从具体的数字与数字之间的操作，抽象抽象再抽象成一个系统来表达。为什么叫“形式”呢，因为这个系统可能对结果并不 care，比如算数系统中我们可以给计算机输入 0-1, 但实际我们想要的结果是正整数，那 0-1 形式上是对的，但结果并不是我们想要的。不过结果对不对，并不影响表达，因为我们就是想要两个数相减。 更准确和详细的理解，推荐这篇文章 形式语言和形式语言学 -- 简单介绍一个形式系统[3] acrostic 是藏头诗的意思，这个大家都熟悉。contrapunctus 是个拉丁词，音乐上的词，对位，我是音盲，不敢乱讲，有兴趣的可以看 对位法 - 维基百科，自由的百科全书[4]。 [入门] 对位法入门 - 知乎[5] 形式语言和形式语言学 -- 简单介绍一个形式系统: https://www.douban.com/note/309668761/ 对位法 - 维基百科，自由的百科全书: https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-hans/%E5%AF%B9%E4%BD%8D%E6%B3%95 [入门] 对位法入门 - 知乎: https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/20361844全系列列表
