分词短语做定语时，放在被修饰的名词之后，在意义上相当于一个定语从句。现在分词做定语，表示动作正在进行或与谓语动词所表示的动作几乎同时发生，或表示某个经常的动作或状态。

(=who stands at the window)They built a highway leading into the mountains. (=which led into the mountains)单个分词做定语时，放在被修饰的名词之前。过去分词做前置定语时表示被动，且有时有已完成的含义。

I don't like to eat fried eggs. 我不喜欢吃煎蛋。

某些不及物动词的过去分词做定语时，表示主动，且有完成的含义。departed friends 离去的朋友
retired workers 退休工人
fallen leaves 落叶
an arrived visitor 一位来客
an escaped prisoner 一个逃犯
3. 虚拟语气在suppose (that) 引导的表示假设的从句中的应用 用过去时指现在或将来，用过去完成时指过去Suppose he asked you to marry him, what would you say? 如果他向你求婚，你怎么想？
Supposing your parents had refused, how would you have felt? 如果你的父母拒绝了，你有什么感受？
must have + 过去分词 表示对过去的猜测。
Harry supposed that the wind must have caught him in mid-jump.
