虞和洵求学记 童年的梦

元旦过后，我把上传到博客的《求学日记》和点击者的留言，全部打印出来，装订成六册。我第一次上传的网站到2010年关闭了。 2010年开始，我第二次上传的网站，后来也没有博客这个平台。现在，1952-56，1957，1958.1-7，1958.8-12，1959，和1960-65共6册《求学日记》 ，放在书架上，随手可翻阅。在此基础上，我打算写散文集《求学记》。

 童年的梦

——虞和洵《求学记》序

在我8岁时，妈妈带我去电影院看了关于科学家爱迪生的黑白影片。爱迪生在7岁时由于患猩红热而使自己的耳朵聋了。他12岁时在火车上卖报。经过了许多次失败以后，32岁时，他终于发明了电灯。

一年后，我们搬家了。新居的门牌号码是60号。我家隔壁54、56 和58号是一个小铁工厂。厂里有一个车间和办公室，车间里有一些机床。一天，我走进这个工厂，在办公室看到一个工程师正在用丁字尺、三角板和圆规绘图,在车间我看到工人师傅正在用机床按图纸加工工件。

不久，我发水痘，躺在床上。表姐坐在床头给我讲童话。说的是一个王子向远处射了3支箭，每一箭射出去后，王子都要走到箭掉落的地方去。第一箭，把王子带到了小人国。第二箭，把王子带到了巨人国。第三箭，让王子在一个皇宫里遇到了一位美丽的公主。

    一天夜里，我梦见我用丁字尺、三角板和圆规画了一支箭，箭头是一只电灯泡。我到了巨人国和小人国。

带着这个美丽的梦，我跨上了小学、中学、大学和研究生的求学之路。1955年我考进了交通大学，校园里挂着的大横幅上写道：“工程师的摇篮”.

A Childhood Dream

Mum took me to go to see a black-white film about scientist Edison when I was an eight-year-old boy. Edison was deaf of his ears because he was suffering from scarlet fever when he was seven years old. He sold newspaper in the train when he was 12 years old. After undergoing a long process of fail tempering he had discovered the electrical light lamp when he was 32 years old.

In the next year our house was removed to a new house which number was 60. The next-door neighbor was a small machine works which numbers were 54, 56 and 58. There were a shop and an office in the works. There were some metal cutting machine tools in the shop. One day I came into the works. I saw that an engineer was drawing a drawing sheet with T-square, triangle ruler and compasses in the office. I saw that a worker was processing a job according to the drawing sheet with the machine tool in the shop..

Not long after I get chicken pox.  My elder female cousin sat by the bed and told me fairy tales. It's about a prince shot three arrows to faraway place than he went to the places to which the arrows fell. The first arrow took the prince to the dwarf country. The second arrow took the prince to the giant country. The third arrow made the prince meet a beautiful princess in a palace.

One night, I dream that I drew an arrow with T-square, triangle ruler and compasses. the arrowhead was a electrical light lamp. I went to the giant country and the dwarf country.

With this beautiful dream, I went to elementary school, middle school, college and graduate school.In 1955 I was admitted to Jiaotong University. The large banner on the campus read: "The cradle of engineers ".
