Mental health professionals and academics with a degree in the humanistic faculties interested in applying for psychoanalytic training should contact the Chair of the Admission Committee of the China Committee, Prof. Sverre Varvin, email:
sverre.varvin@nkvts.unirand.noApplicants must have a university degree, preferably in medicine or psychology or social sciences or the humanities or have relevant education as social worker, and have relevant clinical practice within psychiatry or psychological consultation. Psychoanalytic Training gives candidates a fundamental understanding of psychoanalytic theory and practice and equips them to become practitioners. For more details consult the Training Guidelines.
There are two options available to Chinese professionals:
1. To seek training in China under the auspices of the China Committee, which is delivering psychoanalytic training on behalf of the IPA (International Psychoanalytical Association). The two training Programs in Beijing and Shanghai are at the moment complete. The announcement of a new intake and of a new program will be made on this page of the website.
2. To train in an IPA Institute overseas (Europe, North America and Asia: Australia, Japan, and Korea).
